The pavement on Albert Road was subsiding, causing hazardous conditions and posing a risk of causing accidents for pedestrians.
Cllr Sarah Cockburn-Price reported the issues to Lancashire County Council who reported the issue to United Utilities. The repair of this issue was delayed whilst LCC and United Utilities liaised on the issue, which was further hindered by the recent lockdown.
Public safety barriers were errected around the hazard whilst the issue was being resolved, but the barriers kept getting trashed LCC had to re-erect them every single time. It took around 6 months to get United Utilities out to repair the pavement, but the work has now been completed and the pavement is now safe for the people of Colne.
Cllr Sarah Cockburn-Price said, "I am just so glad no one was injured while these repairs weren’t taking place. Thank you to all the residents, business owners and council colleagues who have helped me chase to get this work completed at long last."
