A Council that works for you

We know that Pendle Borough Council needs reform and we’re willing to be the turkeys that vote for Christmas!

To improve your Council we will

Look to establish a new Unitary Authority for Pennine Lancashire, this would ensure decisions on areas such as Highways, Education and Social Care are taken by one Council, closer to home.

Cut the number of Councillors and move to 4 yearly elections. Cut the councillors by at least a third and save hundreds of thousands on yearly elections.

Freeze recruitment to make sure that your money is spent on delivering the services you and your family need.

Take Taxi Licensing out of political control because what really matters is the safety of residents and not favours and undue pressure from politicians.

In the last few years, the Council’s debt has risen to around £18 million. Next year, it could hit £27million or £675 per home! We cannot leave future generations saddled with that.

We’ll sell off Council buildings in Nelson that Labour and the Lib Dems bought, like Number One Market Street, to pay down the debt.
