Growing the local economy

We’re proud of our industrial heritage as one of great makers and manufacturers. We want to build on that history. We also want to improve our Town Centres. Our vision is for Pendle to be a destination for shoppers and entrepreneurs alike.

Pendle has too often been on the back foot, losing out to places like Burnley by not taking enough action. We’ll change that.

On High Streets, we want your town centre experience to be enjoyable and stress-free. So we’ll protect parking provision and the Town Centre repairs budget, which has been under threat.

To achieve our vision we will:

Accelerate the extension of Lomeshaye Industrial Estate. We’re run out of industrial land in Pendle and if we don’t extend quickly, we’ll lose out to Burnley AGAIN.

Support the Skipton to Colne Rail Line and push for modern trains on the line through to Preston, to encourage visitors.

To support a Colne and Villages Bypass which will encourage business. To be clear, we will only support a route that is right for all of Pendle, the impact of this should be as low as possible.

Protect the Grants for Growth Scheme. Drawn up by the Conservatives, it’s one of the best value-for-money business grant schemes around, leading to the creation of hundreds of jobs.

Protect our car parking. We’re one of the few places in Lancashire which still has free car parking, supporting our Town Centres. We’ll protect this, whilst making sure it isn’t abused.
