Provide the education and jobs our young people deserve

Our young people deserve the best possible start in life and that’s not what they’re getting at the moment. In fact, children in Pendle leave both Primary and High School worse off than any other children in Lancashire.

We want to change that because we want to enable young people to be competitive in the Lancashire jobs market.

We already have some Outstanding schools, but too many pupils and parents still face the challenge of getting good quality places at local schools.

With a growing population, it’s time to back our schools and give young people the tools to succeed. At the forefront of everything we do will be giving the next generation the best possible start in life.

To achieve our vision we will:

Take a full review of school, further education and skills training places available and act on the results, such as considering working with the Pendle Education Trust and The Pennine Trust Academies, who have new ideas to improve education.

Work with the all schools to develop and fund the Pendle Challenge where schools will hold each other to account.

Work with Universities from across the North to bring a campus to Pendle, focusing on manufacturing, engineering and digital skills. This would help to create more Graduate jobs to help keep highly skilled people in Pendle.

Incentivise Pendle businesses to create 100 Apprenticeships within 100 days.
