The old Blockbuster building on Colne’s high street could be set to be restored, after a planning application has been received on the building.
The application would see the ground floor be retained as a retail space, whilst the first, second and third floors would have a total of 5 apartments built.
Colne’s Area Committee has previously served a Section 215 on the property, which is an order to get the property back up to an acceptable standard, so it doesn’t bring the rest of the high street down.
Local councillor, Jonathan Nixon said, “This building has been standing empty and unused for far too long. It is embarrassing and is an eye-sore. Hopefully, this new planning application could mean a new lease of life for this major town centre building. I would hope and expect my fellow councillors to support the application, as having a strong and independent retail presence in the town is setting us apart from other areas of Pendle.”
