OUR VISION FOR PENDLE, we’ll deliver a Council that works for you and your family.
The future of Pendle relies on the success of our people. The plan my team and I have put together puts you and your family at its heart, so that everyone has the opportunities they deserve to get on in life.
As it stands, children in Pendle leave both Primary and High School worse off than any other place in Lancashire. That has to change. So our plan starts with our vital young people, we’ll support our schools with the facilities they need and invest in every pupil, with apprenticeships or further education, so they get the skills required for earning or learning well into the future.
By backing businesses our plan aims to create more well-paid jobs for local people. We will encourage variety on our high streets, building on the great range of independent choice and making Pendle a destination for new start-ups and enterprise. We’ll accelerate work on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate whilst ensuring our area has the roads and rail links needed to ease congestion.
I’m sure you’ll agree that Pendle is a great place to live, work and raise a family. Whilst there is a need for affordable housing it should be where the demand is greatest, and only where there are schools, roads and surgeries for residents. So we’ll ensure that new housing developments work for us, prioritising brown field and bringing empty homes back into use.
In May, your family and your neighbours will get the chance to decide who runs Pendle Council. That choice could not be clearer, more of the same with the Labour and the Lib Dem coalition running your Council, or a change, with our positive plan for Pendle.
